![]() ![]() Watching for a few min and it happened again! I tried a couple more permutations of this including a full engine start but then I couldn't make it happen again. I reached inside, pushed the power button to turn it off and closed the door. I was able to see it in action a few times - close the door, start to walk away, and then the infotainment and dash would turn on and the power button would turn red. It's possible something was accidentally left on but after jumping it I noticed a similar situation to the original post where the car seemed to magically turn itself on. Then, a few hours later I came back and it was completely dead - like the doors wouldn't open, seats didn't adjust, nothing. I drove the car in the morning and it started up just fine. However, yesterday was a different story. ![]() For the last year or so the situation would look like this: the battery would have enough juice to open the doors/tailgate, turn on the lights etc but would only click click when I tried to start. I've resorted to keeping a jump box in the trunk because the times when the car doesn't want to start seem rather unexpected. Granted, I make lots of short trips (often only 10 min of driving). I have a 2019 that has had consistent battery issues for about the last two years. Sorry that I’m likely not using correct terminology - sadly know very little about cars. Wondering if this is just my car or if it might be happening to other Odyssey’s, but just not happening often because it’s such a specific scenario? Would try to take it back to the dealer but they returned it twice telling me there was no problem. Since it’s only this scenario where the drain occurs, seems like more a software than electrical issue. This is where if I leave the car overnight, the battery will drain. But if I reopen the drivers’ side door briefly without turning the engine back on (just open and shut immediately), something in the console seems to come on and stay on indefinitely (very faint static heard behind the console). The ignition switch also has wire leads that plug into the back of this same fuse box. The starter cut-out relay is located on the back of the driver's under dash fuse/relay box in the left wall kick panel. If the starter works then you have a problem in the ignition switch, or starter cut-out relay. (If using a jumper wire, briefly touch the other end to the battery positive terminal and see if cranking will occur). Activate the remote start switch and see if the starter will crank. Connect the other end of the remote start switch wire to the battery positive terminal. (This terminal is visible just to the left of the automatic transmission dipstick tube.) Remove this wire and connect one end of the remote start switch wire (or jumper wire) to it. The starter solenoid terminal has a black wire with a white stripe connected to it. You will be jumping from the battery positive terminal to the starter solenoid. First make sure transmission is in park or neutral. Next, you can try a remote start switch (available at auto parts stores) or a jumper wire to bypass the ignition switch. If this works, the transmission range switch (sometimes called a neutral safety switch) is faulty in Park. ![]()
